Love for Nutmeg

So, I’ve got this friend, Nutmeg. Her name’s Megan, but we used to call her Nutmeg in college, and I still usually call her that. She’s just… well, she’s a Nutmeg! She’s one of the coolest people I know. She has a love for animals, namely cats and ferrets. She’s also a legit music fan; she is an encyclopedia of music. She has an eclectic taste, and some of her favorites are music I’ve never even heard of, and I consider myself fairly musical. She works at a LOT of concerts and music festivals, getting to know bands and the behind-the-scenes scene. Oh, and she’s a DJ. I told you she was cool.

Apart from her coolness, she’s just about the nicest, smartest, most genuine, laid back, and funniest people you could ever meet. One of our mutual friends pointed out to me that Nutmeg has about a zillion friends- she’s just one of those people you want to be friends with when you meet her! We don’t talk a lot or see each other often, but when we do, it’s like no time has passed. And I just love hearing her stories; her life is so different from mine, it’s fascinating! Don’t you just love friends like that??

Recently, we did a friendcation in Boston (where we all went to school) and she made the trek from the West Coast (come to think of it, she’d basically planned the whole thing). We took this great selfie together as we were saying goodbyes, and it just came out so nice, I wanted to send it to her in some fashion. I was in the middle of having a cup of coffee out of my Shutterfly photo mug that I bought myself last year, pondering this thought, and it inspired me to send her a mug! I love ordering stuff from Shutterfly- usually they have great deals, and I have always been very happy with the way things come out. Christmas cards, mugs, calendar, our wedding album, metal ornaments- all stuff I’ve received in one of those happy orange Shutterfly boxes! Perhaps a mug with a picture of her and me is the LAST thing she wants LOL, but I figured I’d go out on a limb. Eh, she can always throw it away or put it in the back of her cabinet if she hates it. But I personally thought it came out awfully nice, so why not.

And then I thought, well, I can’t just send her the mug. That’s boring. Might as well send her all the goodies that go with a mug! Hot cocoa mix and tea and treats.

Sweet Treats from www.theshortesttallman.comHopefully it all ships ok! I googled some tips for shipping cookies, so I think it’ll work out. I am so excited for her to receive this surprise from me!

As this was starting to look like a care package haha, I thought I might as well make it look special for the holidays. And right away I knew what I wanted to make: chocolate dipped pretzels and spritz cookies. I knew they’d ship well, they’d be easy on my end, and they are perfect with a warm drink.

I picked up some pretzel rodsSweet Treats from www.theshortesttallman.com, chocolate candy wafers, and fun sprinkles. It was so easy, and they look fantastic! I would like to receive these in the mail!

peppermint spritz cookies dipped in chocolate, and vanilla spritz cookies. Perfect little sweet treats, IMO.

Sweet Treats from www.theshortesttallman.comThe finished package basically looks like I boxed Christmas and sent it to her, so I’m hoping she’ll be pleasantly surprised when the package arrives. And, it was fun- the whole time I worked on this, I was thinking happy Nutmeg thoughts. Hehe. Since we don’t talk often (I guess Facebook has changed the way we all keep in touch), this will be totally out of the blue. I hope she feels the love from the East Coast! Cheers to Nutmeg!
